ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Western District -- Police arrested a 25-year-old man and charged him with the attempted murder of a police officer. Officer Richard Robinson reported he was in the 600 block of Gold St. around 2 a.m. Monday when a man drove a car drove toward him and attempted to run him down. Police said Robinson evaded the car and radioed a description of the vehicle as it sped off. Later, the car was stopped and its driver was arrested after a brief scuffle. Police said Mark Hawkins, of the 2000 block of Division St., was charged with assault with intent to murder, simple assault and resisting arrest. Police said Hawkins appeared at a bail hearing at the Wabash District Court and was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1300 block of N. Calhoun St. reported that someone broke into his apartment and stole property of unknown value.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Stephine Wilkerson, of the 1100 block of N. Stockton St. and Julie Ford, also of the 1100 block of N. Stockton St., told police they were walking in the 1100 block of N. Mount St. early yesterday when they were accosted by two men, one with a handgun, who demanded their money and property. Police said Wilkerson was forced to give up a gold chain and ring, all valued at $200. Ford, police said, was robbed of $10, an 18-inch gold chain and cigarettes. Police said the value of the property taken from Ford was not known.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke into a city-owned building in the 2600 block of Madison Ave. and attempted to steal computer equipment. Police said the equipment was found moved from its original position in a room and that it appeared it was abandoned when someone entered the building during the break-in.
CUTTING: Western District -- Gertrude Rideout, of the 2000 block of W. Lafayette Ave., reported that near her home Tuesday night she was attacked by a man who broke into her home. Rideout told police the man was armed with a knife and cut her on the neck during a scuffle. Police said the man fled and Rideout was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where she was treated for a laceration and listed in good condition. Police said the man, who was known to the victim, was being sought.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 2400 block of Madison Ave. and stole a 27-inch TV set valued at $500. Police said entry was gained through a bedroom window.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Gloria Jonio, of the 1700 block of Presstman St., reported she was in the 1800 block of Presstman St. early yesterday when she was stopped by two men who asked her for money. Jonio told police the men then robbed her of more than $200 and a gold chain valued at nearly $600.
RAPE/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a 14-year-old boy and charged him as a juvenile with raping a young girl in her home in the 700 block of N. Monroe St. Police said the boy, a resident of the 1900 block of Mosher St., was released to the custody of his parents pending action by juvenile authorities.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Portia Roberts, of the 200 block of N. Carey St., reported she was in the 200 block of W. Fayette St. yesterday afternoon when she was attacked by a man who cut her with a knife. Police said the man escaped and that Robert was not seriously injured.
ROBBERY/ARREST: Western District -- Clyde Chappel, of the 1500 block of N. Smallwood St., reported he was in the 1500 block of N. Bentalou St. last night when he was assaulted by a teen-ager who robbed him of his bicycle. Police said a youth was arrested a short time later and was charged as a juvenile with robbery.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 3700 block of Clifton Ave. reported that someone broke into a house she owns in the 1100 block of Edmondson Ave. and stole building materials valued at more than $1,000.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 1100 block of Wicklow Road and stole property of unknown value.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police said property was stolen from a home in the 500 block of Drury Lane after someone forced open a basement window.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Officials of Mary Sue Candies. in the 700 block of S. Caton Ave. reported that someone entered onto the loading platform in the rear of the building and stole property valued at $100.
ASSAULT: Southwestern District -- Sean Landsdowns, of the 3000 block of W. North Ave., reported that at his home yesterday he was attacked by a man who struck him in the face with a beer mug. Police said Landsdowns was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a fractured nose and released. Police said the attacker was being sought.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 2100 block of Ashton St. reported someone broke into his home by forcing open the front door and stole property valued at $700.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 700 block of Exeter Hall Ave. reported that a man broke into her home by forcing open a front window and fled when she confronted him. The occupant told police it was not known if any property was taken.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Employees of Tales of the White Heart, a book store in the 3300 block of Greenmount Ave., told police someone broke into their building but that it was not known if any property was taken.
ROBBERY TRY: Northwestern District -- James Johnson, of the 3900 block of Forest Park Ave., told police he was walking in the 2900 block of Garrison Blvd. shortly after 4 a.m. yesterday when he was approached by a man with a gun who demanded his money. Police said Johnson refused to comply with the man's order, and the gunman to turn and walk away.
ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Police reported that an employee of the Mondawmin Mall was about to enter her car on the mall parking lot yesterday afternoon when she was $l approached from the rear by a man and his female companion who ordered her to give up her purse. The couple fled with cash and property valued at $30.
ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Charles Turner, of the 2000 block of Druid Hill Ave., reported he was in the 1200 block of Mondawmin Mall yesterday afternoon when he was stopped by three men, one with a gun, who ordered him to turn over his money. Police said the gunman and his accomplices fled with $300.
BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a storage area at the Mondawmin Mall yesterday and stole carpet cleaning equipment valued at more than $1,000. Police said entry was gained by forcing open an office door.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 700 block of Winston Ave., reported that someone broke into his garage and stole a lawn mower and several hand and power tools. Police said the property was valued at nearly $600.
BURGLARY: Woodlawn District -- Police said someone entered the basement laundry rooms of two apartment buildings in the first block of East Bend Court yesterday and broke into the coin boxes of two washing machines. Police said an undisclosed sum of money was removed from the two machines. Police said the thief also cut the hoses of the machines.
ROBBERY: Woodlawn District -- Police reported a young boy was riding his bicycle in the 1600 block of Forest Park Ave. yesterday afternoon when he was assaulted by an older youth who knocked him off the bike and stole it. Police said the victim was not injured.
BURGLARY: Woodlawn District -- A resident of the first block of Cedar Heights Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a sliding glass door off the balcony and stole a VCR. Police said the value of the property was not known.
DRUG ARRESTS: Millersville -- Police assigned to the county's narcotics drug force arrested three men in two separate drug actions and seized more than 300 "hits" of LSD. Police said shortly after undercover officers made arrangement to purchase LSD from two men at a service station on Md. 468 in Edgewater, the men were arrested and charged with possession of LSD with intent to distribute. Arrested without incident and charged were Robert Edward McKenna, 18, of the 1000 block of Rogers Ave. in Churchton, and Joseph Jordan, 21, of the no fixed address. Police said the two were arrested moments after they arrived at the gas station with more than 250 doses of LSD. In a separate case, police raided a home in the 200 block of Taylor Ave. in Annapolis and arrested William Thomas Hopkins, 21, a resident of the raided house. Police said Hopkins was charged with possession of LSD with intent to distribute and that a search of the premises uncovered 66 hits of the drug.
ROBBERY: Annapolis -- Police today continued their search for a man who attacked a woman near her Monroe Street home and robbed her of her purse containing a small sum of cash. Police said the woman, whose name was not available, was walking across a parking lot near her home when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her purse. Police said neighbors saw a man standing in bushes near the parking lot before the robbery.
DRUG BUST: Annapolis -- While responding to a man reportedly selling drugs on Madison Street, police stopped a suspect answering the person's description and began questioning him. Police said that while the officers were talking to the man they noticed that his pockets were bulging. At the request of the police, the man removed from his pockets a film canister containing 13 rocks of crack cocaine. Police also seized a bag of marijuana from the sweatband of his hat. Charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and simple possession of marijuana was Donald Edward Arthur, 25, of the 1600 block of Colmar Lane, Annapolis.
