Local soccer club falls short in L.A.

La Dolce Vita, Baltimore's entry in the U.S. Soccer Federation's over-30 national championship in Los Angeles Saturday, came away disappointed when the Dirty Dozen of L.A. successfully defended their title.

The Dirty Dozen managed a 2-1 victory, as La Dolce Vita played a man down during the last 20 minutes. The two goals were the first given up by goalkeeper Keith Van Eron in 4 games.

Jim Pollihan scored LDV's only goal with 15 minutes to play. Henry Long was credited with a strong defensive effort.

"The best team won," admitted LDV coach Danny Geerling. "But we're looking forward to getting them next year."
