THE ECONOMIST, a British journal, published a "guide for the bewildered" in the wake of Queen Elizabeth's visit to the United States in May. Here is what the Economist advised its readers about the Monumental City:

"Baltimore, where the queen watched a baseball game, is just beyond Chevy Chase and (for Brits) looks like a cleaned-up Liverpool. Local customs include slaughtering crabs with a hammer."
