McSherry, 46, the second-base umpire, collapsed as the third inning was about to begin. He was led to the Braves dugout and was attended by team physician Dr. Robert Crowe.
An announcement in the press box later said McSherry was under observation at Piedmont Hospital, and that he was not believed to be in any danger or seriously ill.
The weather was warm and muggy, with a game-time temperature of 89 degrees.
DODGERS: Left fielder Kal Daniels left the team to return to his home in Warner Robins, Ga., where he will remain indefinitely for "personal reasons," the team said.
Some of Daniels' teammates said they Daniels' mother was ill, but knew no details.
* RAINOUT: With the roof damaged at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, heavy rain caused postponement of last night's game between the Dodgers and the Montreal Expos.
The game was the first postponed since the roof was installed in 1987. The roof was damaged June 27, when winds of up to 65 mph tore two large holes in its Kevlar surface.
The roof will not be repaired until the end of the season because of the estimated five to six weeks of work required to make it functional.
