The Literacy Council of Carroll County Inc. recently raised $400 at a benefit sponsored by Carrie McFadden, owner of the Jazzercize franchise here.

Jazzercize dancers raised the money from pledges for how long they would dance.

A repeat performance is being planned for next year.

Dianne Bennet, tutor with the council and a member of the board of directors, helped organize the event with McFadden.

Ellen Horine of Westminster Graphics contributed artistic layout for the advertising, and the Carroll County Times and The Carroll County Sun donated space to publicize the event.

Muffins and orange juice were donated by McDonald's in Westminster, and TCBY contributed yogurt.
