Philip Nusbaum, formerly of here, has been deployed to Turkey after spending two months in the Persian Gulf.

The 1975 graduate of Westminster High flies 58 Delta Scout aircraft for the Army as part of Operation Provide Comfort on the Turkish border.

Nusbaum's wife, Patricia Desmond Nusbaum, and son, Christopher, live in Fulda, Germany.

His tour of duty there will be finished next April, when the family expects to return to Carroll.

Nusbaum's mother is Madeline Nusbaum, and his in-laws are Harry and Mary Desmond.

DATELINE: UNION BRIDGE

UNION BRIDGE -- Army Pvt. John J. Gouge has been sent to Kuwait as part of Operation Positive Force.

A cavalry scout with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Gouge is a 1990 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School.

He is the son of Joseph and Mary Gouge of here and the brother of Dawn Carr of Taneytown and Misty Johnson of Westminster.

He expects to be back in the United States by October.
