Eight months after moving to its new location in 140 Village, Peppermint Mill Farm is going out of business.

Owner and manager Tone A.Sands said Saturday will be the last day of business for the store, which carries homemade candies and small gifts. All merchandise has been marked down 50 percent.

Sands, who bought the business nearly four years ago, originally operated it in Sherwood Square Mall, now Winchester Exchange. Last fall, she signed a three-year lease for the new location on Route 140. She blamed the poor economy for the decline in business.

"The landlord here is letting me out of my lease," she said. "For the past twomonths, I have had to dip into my children's education fund to pay the rent."

She called the decision painful and said she has no plans to start another business.
