Charles W. "Bud" Groft Jr., 51, died Saturday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore from an ulcer infection. He worked as a yard manager for Condon's Auto Parts in Westminster. Despite the success of recent double-lung transplant surgery, he developed ulcers from medication to prevent rejection of the organs. Survivors include his wife, Anna Sullivan Groft; sons, Charles W. Laura Panebaker Darby, 95, died Thursday at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Reuben U. Darby. A 1919 graduate of Western Maryland College, she taught biology. Several step-grandchildren survive.

A former teacher in Carroll County, he was a vocational rehabilitation counselor. A veteran, he was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association.
