The Crumbies of Manchester and the Ungers of Hampstead welcomed hometheir children and grandchildren with a celebration Wednesday.

Sgt. Brian L. and Cathy Unger Crumbie and their two children returned from Germany for a visit with their parents, other family and friends.

Stationed in Germany since 1988, Crumbie, a fuel handler, was deployed to the gulf from December through April.

The sergeant drove a 2,500-gallon tanker from back service areas to the front lines during the ground war and came under fire several times.

"There was danger," said Crumbie, 26. "But we were always well protected."

BothCrumbies are graduates of North Carroll High School. Brian, who plans to make a career in the Army, will report to Fort Benning, Ga., Aug. 1 with his family.
