Columbia's Bays meet Colombian challenge

The Maryland Bays continued to remain undefeated with a tough 2-1 victory over Millonarios of Colombia last night at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Although Millonarios does not play in the American Professional Soccer League, last night's game counted in the standings so the win put the Bays at 7-0 in the Western Conference with 55 points, just three points ahead of second-place San Francisco Bay, which defeated Colorado on Saturday and has an identical record.

Veterans John Abe and Jean Harbor scored goals in the second half after the South American powerhouse grabbed the lead in the first period on a goal by Jair Abonia.

After Abe scored on a penalty kick 21 minutes into the second half, Harbor got the game-winner on a head ball with 10 minutes left in regulation to seal the victory.

For Millonarios, it was their third game of the week in the APSL, after playing in Miami on Wednesday and Fort Lauderdale on Friday.
