Services for Maurice "Dick" Barnes Harris, a retired purchasing manager, will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Witzke Funeral Home, 1630 Edmondson Ave., in Catonsville.

Mr. Harris, who lived in Catonsville for 36 years, died Saturday at St. Agnes Hospital of complications following surgery. He was 81.

Born in New York City on July 17, 1909, Mr. Harris moved to Baltimore at the age of 8. He served in the National Guard during World War II.

Mr. Harris worked for Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. for 47 years, retiring from his job as a purchasing manager in 1974.

He was a past president of the Steel Club of Baltimore and a life member of the National Association of Purchasing Management.

Mr. Harris was also active in the Boy Scouts of America and took great pride in the fact that his son, Brian, became an Eagle Scout.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nelle Douglas Harris; his son, Brian Douglas Harris of Catonsville; a daughter, Sue Ellen Nugent of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.
