The following area residents, students at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, have received school awards:

Senior Elise Houlik, of Fallston, received the Journalism Award for her work on the school's student newspaper, The Gateway. She also was inducted into the Cum Laude Society, a nationally recognized organization that honors students for their outstanding academic achievement.

Also inducted into the Cum Laude Society was Laura Dulski, of Jarrettsville. She is one of 11 juniors who earned this honor.

SeniorStephanie Gathwright, of Baldwin, received the Finis Editor's Award,which is given to the student who has been an outstanding member of the yearbook staff.

Senior Heather Graham, of Bel air, and sophomore Anita Arendt, of Fallston, were inducted into the French National Honor Society on the basis of their scholastic achievement in the subject.

Sophomore Rachel Duffy, of Fallston, received a medal from the Notre Dame Student Council for leadership and outstanding service.

Freshman Meredith Hobik, of Fallston, was named top freshman of Notre Dame's Maryland Mathematics League team.

Notre Dame Prep awarded diplomas to 105 students May 29, including Harford County residents Jennifer Casper, Michelle Furst, Stephanie Gathwright, Heather Graham, Rachel Hayden, Elise Houlik, Kristin Keeney, Heather Keys, MariaPerriello, Jodi Shaller, Megan Slowik, and Allison Young.


Residents of Harford County were among the 281 students whoreceived bachelor's degrees and 69 graduate students who received master's degrees during commencement ceremonies at Western Maryland College May 18.

Fallston resident Jill Weininger, a student at Messiah College, Grantham, Pa., has been named to the Messiah College dean's list for the spring semester of 1991. In order to be named to the list, a student must have a grade point average of 3.6 or better on a 4.0 scale.

A junior majoring in computer science, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Weininger, of Fallston.
