One arrested, three sought in city slaying

Police arrested one man early today and were seeking two other men and a teen-ager in the apparent drug-related slaying Tuesday of a 22-year-old New York man in the 1800 block of W. Fayette St.

Homicide Detective Gerald Goldstein said Sherman Lionel Lambert, 21, of the 1100 block of N. Fulton Ave., was arrested at 2 a.m. today and charged with the first-degree murder of David Vincent Boyd.

Boyd was shot 15 times with two large-caliber semiautomatic handguns about 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Police said after Boyd fell in front of 1851 W. Fayette St., the two men stood over him and fired 15 bullets into his body.

Goldstein said the shooting had all the signs of being drug-related and that Boyd arrived here from New York by bus several hours before he was killed.

The three suspects have each been charged in warrants with first-degree murder, police said. They were identified as Darnell Hines, 25, of the 1000 block of Claymont Ave.; Antonio Matthews, 21, of no permanent address, and Rodney Brooks, 17, of the 900 block of Druid Park Lake Drive, who was charged as an adult.
