Services for Charles J. Phillips Sr., a retired locomotive engineer, will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Barranco and Sons Funeral Home, Ritchie Highway and Robinson Road, Severna Park.
Mr. Phillips, who was 77 and had lived in Cape St. Claire since 1951, died Saturday at his home after an apparent heart attack.
He retired in 1976 after 35 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a former member of the Annapolis and Baltimore lodges of the Moose.
His wife, the former Rose Colacce, died in 1969. A son, Charles J. Phillips Jr., died in 1963 and a daughter, Rosalie Bollier, died in 1968.
He is survived by two sons, Theodore Phillips of Pasadena and Raymond Phillips of Cape St. Claire; three sisters, Lillian Oberdahoff of Catonsville and Ada Mae Hutchinson and Betty Jane Pilachowski, both of Baltimore; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggested that memorial contributions could be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
