Here's what to look out for if you're traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. The list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
New highway projects
The bridge carrying U.S. 11 over the Potomac River must be closed from tomorrow until July 3 for urgent repairs, the State Highway Administration announced. A 7.3-mile detour using Route 68 (Conococheague Street), Interstate 81 and U.S. 11 is marked by signs.
Moravia Road made one-way: Soon Moravia Road will be made one-way eastbound between Harford Road and Walther Avenue for about three months for a resurfacing project. Detour: southbound traffic proceeds south on Walther Avenue; west on Parkside Drive; north on Harford Road to Moravia Road. Northbound traffic will be detoured to northbound Harford Road.
* Dolphin Street between Howard Street and Mount Royal Avenue is one-way westbound. Traffic coming from south via Martin Luther King Boulevard destined for northbound Jones Falls Expressway continues east to Chase Street, east on Chase to Cathedral Street, then north at the 1100 block of Cathedral to Mount Royal Avenue and the expressway.
Bus route changes
The MTA has scheduled these changes in bus routes for this week. For more information, call 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.
Nos. 9, 18 -- Effective tomorrow, these lines will not operate on Deereco Road between the Timonium Park 'n' Ride and Padonia Road. The lines will operate to and from the park and ride via Green Spring Drive and Timonium and York roads.
No. 33 (Sinclair & Moravia Branch) -- Moravia Road is closed to all westbound traffic between Harford Road and Walther Avenue because of construction. Detour: westbound, via regular route to Moravia and Walther, south on Walther, west on Parkside Drive, west on Argonne Drive, then via regular route.
No. 9 (Springlake Service) -- Providence Road between Hart and Stags Head roads is closed for construction. Detour: northbound via regular route to Providence and Stags Head, west on Stags Head, north on Margarette Road, west on Seminary Avenue, then via regular route.
Customer Comment Line
Effective tomorrow, the new hours for the MTA's Customer Comment Line, (301) 333-2354, will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Transit Information Center
The MTA's Transit Information Center will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. June 10.
