Mary J. Palmisano Retired saleswoman


Services for Mary J. Palmisano, a retired department store saleswoman and 49-year resident of Hamilton, will be held tomorrow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 8501 Loch Raven Blvd.

Mrs. Palmisano, who was 81 and lived for the past two years in Towson, died Friday of cancer at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was a saleswoman at Hecht's in the Northwood Shopping Center for 10 years before retiring in the early 1980s. Earlier, she worked at the Stewart's department store on York Road in Towson until it closed in the 1970s.

A native of Shamokin, Pa., she met and married Frank C. Palmisano in 1926. They moved to Baltimore in 1940, and Mr. Palmisano opened a delicatessen and produce store on Harford Road in Hamilton. He died in 1966.

Mrs. Palmisano was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Harford Road and enjoyed bowling and dancing.

She is survived by five children: Margaret Saluti of Philadelphia, and Mary Cellini, Joseph F. Palmisano, Ann P. Melocik and Joanne McClayton, all of the Towson area; a sister Anna Kalinowski of Shamokin, Pa.; a brother, Joseph Francovich of Lewisburg, Pa.; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
