SUSPECT SOUGHT: Southwestern District -- Police today continued their search for a man wanted in the stabbing death early yesterday of Andre Lamonte Artis, 32, of the 2700 block of Mosher St. Police said a warrant charging William Garfield Brown, 31, of the 2800 block of W. Lafayette Ave., with first-degree murder was issued yesterday after police received information about a suspect. Police said that Artis was stabbed multiple times in the 800 block of Poplar Grove St., then staggered toward the intersection of Poplar Grove and Lafayette Avenue, where he found a police officer and told him he was injured. Police said Artis was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he died at 12:47 a.m. yesterday.

SHOOTING: Southwestern District -- Police said Irving Brown, 54, of the 2600 block of W. Lafayette Ave., was listed today in guarded condition at the University of Maryland Medical Center after he was shot in the stomach by another man in the 2700 block of Mosher St. Police said a man known as "Kip" is being sought in the shooting.

SHOOTING/ARRESTS: Southwestern District -- Police yesterday arrested three men and a woman in the shooting of Jereo Parson, age unknown, of the 2400 block of Winchester St. Police said Parson was in the 400 block of Yale Ave. around 2:30 a.m. yesterday when he was shot at least once by an occupant of a car that sped off. Later, police stopped a car in the 3300 block of W. Baltimore St. and arrested all four occupants. Under the hood of the car, police found a handgun they believed had been used in the shooting. They said Parson was taken to the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore, where he was listed today in serious condition. Police said Michael Stratton, age unknown, of the 2700 block of Sethlow Road, Cherry Hill, was held overnight at the station lockup in lieu of $250,000 bail on a charge of assault with intent to murder and several narcotic violations. A second man, Kemail Ward, 20, of the 200 block of Bridgeview Road, Cherry Hill, was charged with assault with intent to murder and possession of heroin. When Ward was arrested, police recovered a briefcase that contained more than a dozen plastic bags of heroin. Clinton Wagner, 19, also of the Bridgeview Road address, was charged with assault with intent to murder and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond. No information was available on the woman, who was being held at the Women's Detention Center on similar charges.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Ronaldo Gaimato, of the 2700 block of The Alameda, reported that someone entered his home and stole a VCR and a baby stroller, for a loss of more than $700.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Janice Jones, of the 4000 block of Eierman Ave., reported that a woman threatened her with a handgun at her home early yesterday. Police said the woman, whose name was not released, was arrested and held overnight at the Women's Detention Center pending formal charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a truck owned by an out-of-town construction company while it was parked in the 5000 block of Holder Ave. and stole hand and power tools valued at more than $1,000.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Derrick Ellis, of the 4000 block of Lyndale Ave., reported that someone entered the back yard of his home yesterday and stole seven homing pigeons, valued at $500. He said they could be identified by the gold bands on their legs with the letters MTRC.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Jason Cronhardt, of the 5100 block of Harford Road, reported that someone entered the bedroom of his home recently and stole more than $1,000. Cronhardt told police he suspects a teen-age boy he knows and was advised to seek a warrant for his arrest.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Housing officials reported that someone entered a Baltimore City Housing Authority truck parked in the 7200 block of Dillehunt Ave., Hollander Ridge, and stole a battery and several hand and power tools, all valued at more than $600.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Robert's Barber Shop in the 2000 block of Belair Road by forcing a rear door and stole $20 and a gold necklace valued at more than $200.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of the Ridge Lumber Co. in the 4300 block of Shannon Drive reported that someone broke into the building and stole three heavy-duty nail guns. Police said the equipment was valued at more than $1,000 and that entry was gained by prying a metal panel loose from the side of the building.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Tina Nemphos reported that someone entered a dwelling she owns in the 3400 block of Glenmore Ave. and stole two ladders, a camera and other pieces of property valued at more than $2,000.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Rexmere Road reported that someone broke into her home by kicking in a rear door and stole a computer game and 20 game cartridges, all valued at nearly $1,200.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said a VCR and a TV, valued at nearly $800, were stolen from an apartment in the 5300 block of Eastbury Ave. after someone broke in without leaving any signs of forced entry.

ROBBERY/TRY: Northeastern District -- Police today were seeking a man who attempted to hold up Sparkman's Quality Body Shop in the 2000 block of Belair Road yesterday evening. Police said a man entered the business around 6 p.m. and began talking to a female employee standing behind the counter. Police said the man grabbed the woman's arm and cut her with a knife while ordering her to give him money. Police said the woman cried out and the man fled without taking any money.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- An 11-year-old boy told police he was riding his $700 multispeed bicycle in the 3600 block of Eastwood Drive yesterday evening when two older youths knocked him off the bike and rode away with it. Police said the victim was not injured.

THEFT: Northern District -- Wilhelmina Knight, of the 1800 block of Chilton St., reported that while her 1988 Ford was parked in the 500 block of E. 43rd St. Wednesday night and yesterday morning, someone broke the door lock and stole a wallet and a radar detector, valued at nearly $140.

THEFT: Northern District -- Carrie Paronte, a resident of New York, reported her 1989 Volkswagen Jetta was parked in the 3500 block of Chestnut Ave. yesterday when someone broke into it and stole an AM-FM cassette radio and other property valued at nearly $900.

THEFT: Northern District -- Employees of the Dick Corp., in the Falls Lane Medical Center in the 4400 block of Falls Road, reported that someone entered a building in the 2100 block of W. Cold Spring Lane by opening a bay door and stole nearly $3,000 in tools and equipment owned by the company.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that the owner of a car that had a Denver boot attached to one of its wheels somehow removed the device and drove away, taking the boot with him. Police said the car had been parked in the 3200 block of St. Paul St. and had the boot attached to it for an excessive number of unpaid parking tickets. They said the boot was valued at nearly $350 and that anyone removing the boot also faces a heavy fine.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Patricia Revty, of the 4200 block of Nicholas Ave., reported that someone she knows entered her home yesterday and stole a diamond ring valued at $900.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 1000 block of N. Woodington Road reported that someone broke into his home through a living room window and stole property of unknown value.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police said an employee of the Merit Gas Station in the 500 block of N. Franklintown Road was working outside the station yesterday when he was accosted by two men who robbed him of an undisclosed sum and escaped on foot.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Russell Ladd, of the 1900 block of Wilhelm St., reported he was near his home yesterday evening when he was stopped by a man who robbed him of more than $100.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Antonio Miles, of the first block of Upmanor Road, told police he was in the 500 block of Normandy Ave. when he was stopped by a man with a handgun who robbed him of jewelry valued at nearly $300 and escaped on foot.

THEFT/ARREST: Essex District -- Police arrested a 38-year-old man and a teen-age boy and were holding them at the station pending charges they stole a 1979 Chevrolet Corvette from a parking lot in the 300 block of Back River Neck Road yesterday. Police said the car, owned by Roy Green of the 300 block of Ida Ave., was stopped at Hilltop and Middleborough roads for a minor traffic violation and that during a search of the car, police found narcotics. Police said the man and the youth face theft and narcotics charges.

DRUG ARREST: BWI -- Police arrested a Brooklyn, N.Y., man this week moments after he got off a train at the Amtrak station at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport and charged him with transporting cocaine with intent to distribute. Police said shortly after Kirk Migeal Forbes, 31, got off the train from Newark, N.J., he was stopped by a narcotics officer who engaged him in conversation. During the brief talk, the officer asked Forbes for permission to search his luggage. Police said ++ Forbes consented and the officer found 13 ounces of cocaine having a street value of nearly $40,000.

SEX ARREST: Friendship Park -- Police detailed at Friendship Park following continued complaints of men soliciting for sex or engaged in sex acts there arrested a Virginia man and charged him with sexually assaulting a police officer, assault and resisting arrest. Police said Officer Thomas Torrence was working in the park earlier in the week when he was invited by a motorist to sit in his car. Police said that when the man reached over and grabbed Torrence in the groin, the officer identified himself as a policeman and told the man he was under arrest. Police said when Torrence got out of the car to order the man out from the driver's side, the man sped off, dragging the officer about 300 feet as the officer held onto the door. Police said the driver tried to knock Torrence off the car by driving close to a fence. Police said the man stopped the car when a second officer arrived and pointed a gun at him. Police said Douglas Oakley Lee, 43, of the 6100 block of Vine Forest Court in Falls Church, Va., was arrested without further incident.

BURGLARY: Davidsonville -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 800 block of Central Ave. and stole several appliances valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Crofton -- A resident of the 1600 block of Eton Way reported that someone broke into his home through a door and stole jewelry valued at $800.

BURGLARY: Glen Burnie -- Police reported that several pieces of furniture and appliances were stolen from a dwelling in the 400 block of Hideaway Loop after someone forced a door. Police said the value of the property was not immediately known.

BURGLARY: Pasadena -- Police said jewelry valued at $300 was stolen from a home in the 100 block of South Carolina Ave. after someone broke in through a door.
