Man dies of stab wounds

A 32-year-old man died early today of stab wounds he received last night during an argument in an alley off the 800 block of Poplar Grove St., city police said.

Andre Lamonte Artis, of the 2700 block of Mosher St., was pronounced dead shortly before 1 a.m. at University of Maryland Medical Center. He was stabbed in his upper chest, abdomen and arms.

Police said Artis approached two officers shortly before 10 p.m. and told them he had been stabbed. He then collapsed, and the officers called an ambulance.

Artis gave a description of the clothing his attacker wore, police said. Also, a witness provided information. Police said they are searching for a 31-year-old suspect who lives in the 2800 block of W. Lafayette Ave.
