Delegate Lawrence LaMotte, D-Carroll, Baltimore County, has been named to an environmental committee with the National Conference of State Legislators.

He will join the conference's Environmental and Natural Resources Committee, which deals with solid waste, ground water,global warming, hazardous waste and other issues.

"I will be able to bring some of the concerns of the state of Maryland to the attention of the federal government and the U.S. Congress," LaMotte said.

The panel is one of 11 standing committees of the policy-making arm of the conference. The policy-making arm meets three times a year with federal officials and develops recommendations on a range of national issues that affect state-federal government relations.
