Chesapeake-AA takes crown State Class 4A softball

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Amy Jakubowski, one of the best softball players ever from talent-rich Anne Arundel County, hoped to go out in style.

"I hope this is the best game of my life," Chesapeake-Anne Arundel's senior pitcher said before the state Class 4A championship last night at Upton Park.

It wasn't her best, but the Cougars (20-3) will settle for Jakubowski's one-hitter and 6-0 victory over Frederick (14-6) as they successfully defended their 1990 state championship.

Jakubowski (10-2), who struck out 13 and walked none, had no-hit Springbrook, 11-0, in Tuesday's semifinals. She had another no-hitter and a perfect game earlier this season.
