Maryland has been selected as the site for a regional distribution center that will serve 17 Price Clubs in six states, according to state Department of Economic and Employment Development Secretary J. Randall Evans.

Mr. Evans said that the California-based Price Co. considered locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia before choosing the Techwood Business Park in Anne Arundel County as the site for its distribution center.

The facility will help to supply the cash-and-carry warehouses, which carry brand-name merchandise at discount prices.

"The Price Co.'s location in Techwood Business Park will provide the company easy access to excellent transportation," Anne Arundel County Economic Development Director Sam Minnitte said.

"They can efficiently serve their markets through Baltimore-Washington International Airport, the port of Baltimore and a large network of interstate highways."

The business park is a development of Trammell Crow Co., and Manekin Corp. served as the leasing agent for the project.

Based in San Diego, Price has 57 warehouses in the Unites States and 10 in Canada.

The Anne Arundel County distribution center will serve Price Clubs in Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Maryland has Price Clubs in Glen Burnie, White Marsh, Beltsville, Gaithersburg and Marlow Heights.
