ROBBERY/ARREST: Northwestern District -- Police arrested a Pimlico man yesterday and charged him with robbing a bank in the 5000 block of Park Heights Ave. Police said an unarmed man entered the Harbor Bank of Maryland about 9:30 a.m. yesterday, announced a holdup and ordered several employees and customers to lie on the floor. After removing an undisclosed sum from several cash drawers, the man escaped on foot. Police said bank employees recognized the man as a former customer and gave them his name and address. A helicopter was dispatched to fly over the man's house in the 3500 block of Oakmont Ave. and, moments later, a man was seen leaving the house and attempting to drive off in a taxicab. Police units on the ground moved in and arrested the man. Police said Mark Stanford Brown, 32, was charged with bank robbery and was held overnight at the station lockup pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner. Police said about half of the $2,000 taken in the robbery was recovered.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Michael Rokos, of the 2200 block of Mayfield Ave., reported that someone entered the front porch of his home yesterday and stole an antique metal lawn chair valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Tony's unisex barber shop in the 2800 block of Hillen Road by forcing a rear door and stole hair-cutting equipment valued at more than $1,200.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1300 block of Argonne Drive reported that someone broke into her home through a basement window yesterday and stole a 10-by-17-foot Oriental rug. Police said the rug had been on the living room floor and that its value was not immediately known.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Arc Welding in the 3400 block of Sinclair Lane reported that someone broke a lock to get into the building and stole welding equipment and supplies of unknown value.

ARSON: Northeastern District -- Police were seeking two teen-age boys in the arson of a vacant house in the 5600 block of Seward Ave. around 11 a.m. yesterday. Police said that after the fire was seen by other residents of the street, two youths ages 13 to 15 were spotted running from the house. Police said the fire was confined to a room and that damage was minor.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police said a man in his mid-20s escaped yesterday after he was spotted stealing several cartons of cigarettes from a display in the High's dairy store in the 3900 block of Erdman Ave.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Lisa Smith, of the 3300 block of Cliftmont Ave., told police that someone entered the back yard of her home yesterday after opening a gate and stole her power lawn mower valued at more than $160.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Joseph Patterson, of the 1500 block of Pentland Road, reported that someone broke into his storage locker in the basement of an adjoining apartment building and stole clothing and tools valued at nearly $550.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,000 was taken from a garage in the 5100 block of Harford Road by someone who forced a lock off the door.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Marsha Ndir, of the 1800 block of E. 30th St., told police that while her car was parked in the 3200 block of Whitman Drive yesterday, someone broke into it and stole property valued at more than $3,000.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Michael Campbell, of the 3500 block of Northway Drive, reported that someone stole his $200 bike yesterday after he left it unlocked on his rear porch.

THEFT: Northern District -- Jerry Richards, a resident of Virginia, reported that his car was parked in the 5600 block of Lothian Road yesterday when someone broke into it and stole clothing valued at $100.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Benton Classics in the 2800 block of Greenmount Ave. and stole clothing and shoes valued at more than $2,400.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 400 block of Hawthorne Court reported that someone broke into her home and stole five rings, including a wedding band, that were valued at more than $2,000.

THEFTS: Northern District -- Police reported that someone entered a construction site at Sts. Phillip and James Church in the 2800 block of N. Charles St. yesterday and stole telephone equipment valued at $500.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police said a man with a handgun entered the Sports Mart in the 2900 block of Greenmount Ave. yesterday afternoon and ordered an employee to give up the contents of a cash register. Before escaping with an undisclosed sum, police said, the gunman forced the employee into the back room and warned him to stay there until the thief left.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Officials of Loyola College in the 4500 block of N. Charles St. reported that someone broke into a portable classroom by forcing a door lock and stole clothing and books valued at nearly $670.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 5100 block of Craig Ave. reported that someone broke into his house yesterday and stole more than $100.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 2300 block of Eutaw Place reported that someone removed a metal window screen to break into her home Tuesday or yesterday and stole two TVs, a telephone and a cosmetic case, all valued at more than $600.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Robert Smith, of the 4200 block of Fords Lane, told police he was in the 1900 block of N. Dukeland St. early yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who robbed him of computer equipment, a pair of tennis shoes and a beeper, all valued at more than $300.

ROBBERY TRY: Western District -- Police said James Maguire, of the 6600 block of Tallulah Ave. in Woodlawn, reported he was in the 1200 block of N. Parrish St. around noon yesterday when he was stopped by a man with a handgun who demanded his money. Police said the gunman walked away when Maguire said had no money.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $500 was stolen when someone broke into an apartment in the 1100 block of Mosher St. Police said the burglar entered through a third-floor door and stole a 19-inch TV, an AM-FM radio and a cable TV control device.

THEFT: Southern District -- Curt Green, an out-of-town resident, reported that while his 1989 Mazda pickup truck was parked in the first block of E. Cross St. yesterday evening, someone stole the $1,000 racing bike he had left in the rear bed.

SHOOTING: Northwestern District -- Police reported that Shawn Carter, of the 3400 block of Mayfair Road, was in the 2900 block of Oakley Ave. late Tuesday night when a man shot him in the neck with a handgun. Police said Carter was taken to Sinai Hospital for treatment and was listed in good condition today.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Anthony Clark, of the 3100 block of Leighton Ave., reported he was in the 2300 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway early yesterday when he was attacked by three youths who beat him with their fists and robbed him of $6 in cash.

SHOOTING: Northwestern District -- Police reported that Stephanie Harriston, of the 4200 block of Towanda Ave., was outside her home Tuesday evening when several men became involved in a shoot-out, apparently involving drugs. Police said one of the bullets hit Harriston in the lower right side and she was taken to a hospital for treatment. They said the men fled when they learned that Harriston had been hit.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Angelo Jones, of the 4400 block of Pall Mall Road, reported he was in the 3300 block of Woodland Ave. when he was stopped by three men, one with a handgun, who robbed him of cash and jewelry of unknown value.

Baltimore County

THEFT: White Marsh District -- Police reported that a man stole an undisclosed sum out of a cash register at the High's dairy store in the 8200 block of Philadelphia Road around 10:30 p.m. yesterday. Police said the man placed a candy bar on the counter, the clerk opened the cash register, and the man reached across and grabbed several bills from the drawer. Police said the thief was last seen running west on Philadelphia Road.

Anne Arundel

ROBBERY: Severna Park -- Police said an employee of the Horn and Horn restaurant at the Severna Park Mall was robbed of an undisclosed sum Monday as he was about to deposit money into a night-deposit vault at the First American Bank of Maryland at the mall. Police said the employee was standing at the night-deposit slot when a man with a handgun took the money and fled.

ARREST: Glen Burnie -- Police arrested an 18-year-old Pasadena man and charged him with the attempted armed robbery of a 16-year-old on the grounds of a Glen Burnie elementary school on May 12. Police said the victim was at Quarterfield Elementary School that afternoon when he was accosted by a man with a knife who demanded his money. Police said the victim refused to comply and the man fled. After an investigation during which police received information about a suspect, Robert Stanford Jenkins, 18, of the 8100 block of Great Bend Road in Pasadena, was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery.

Howard County

ASSAULT/ARREST: Ellicott City -- A 23-year-old resident of the 3700 block of St. Paul St. was released from the county Detention Center Tuesday after being charged with assault with intent to murder and related violations in an attack on his cousin during a quarrel at the home they share. Police said the victim, Delroy A. Matthews, 38, was found in a telephone booth at Maryland Avenue and Main Street early Sunday, bleeding from multiple stab wounds. Police said Matthews was taken to the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore with multiple stab wounds of the head and buttocks. The next day, he was released. After Matthews was taken to the hospital, police traced a trail of blood from the phone booth to Matthews' house, where they found the victim's cousin, Milton L. Pollock Jr., 23. Police said Pollock was arrested and also charged with assault with intent to maim and common assault.

SUSPICIOUS FIRES: Oakland Mills -- Investigators are seeking the public's help in finding out who set three fires at Oakland Mills High School over the weekend. At 2 a.m. Sunday, county firefighters responded to the school, in the 9400 block of Kilimanjaro Road in Columbia, and extinguished a fire in an outdoor trash can. While there, they also doused a fire in a pile of paper near a parking lot. Minutes later, they spotted a trash fire in a construction area of a new wing. That fire, officials said, was fueled by gas from a punctured acetylene gas tank. Police said damage from the three fires was slight.
