EMPLOYEE IS VERY SMART

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Edward Jackson of Glen Burnie, a senior draftsperson in the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.'s distribution and transmission engineering department, has submitted a proposal that will save the company $23,600over a three-year period.

His suggestion under the company's "Work Smarter" employee suggestion program, was to cover a specific type of underground electric cable with a polythylene jacket, protecting the lead sheath from moisture, friction, and preventing corrosion, allowing the cable to be reused.

Jackson received $2,365 reward -- 10 percent of the savings to the company for his suggestion.
