Correction: A Newswatch item in yesterday's Money Plus gave an incorrect title for Neil Tress of Genstar Stone Products Co. He has been named assistant controller. The Evening Sun regrets the error.

Career management:

Larry G. Rank, the former president and chief operating officer of Provident Bank of Maryland, has joined Jannotta, Bray and Associates Inc. as vice president and consultant. As president of Provident from 1985 through 1990, Rank directed the transition from a thrift to a commercial bank. Jannotta, Bray and Associates is a national career management and executive out-placement firm.

Leonard V. Bunce has been appointed vice president of finance at Schmidt Baking Co. Bunce, a certified public accountant, has been in the company's Finance and Accounting Department since 1986. Schmidt markets brands in the Mid-Atlantic that include Blue Ribbon, Sunbeam and Roman Meal breads.

Diane E. Murphy has been promoted to vice president and division officer in the Compensation and Benefits Division of First National Bank of Maryland. She manages corporate compensation and benefit plans.

* Margaret E. Bankard has joined Legg Mason Wood Walker Inc. as an investment executive in the Towson office. She has six years of experience in investments, most recently as an investment broker with Prudential-Bache Securities.

Michael Todd has been appointed sales director for the St. James Condominium, located at 3704 N. Charles St. As the principal of Todd Management in Boston, he oversaw marketing and maintenance of various condominiums in Massachusetts.

* Trammell Crow Residential has appointed Terry O. Stafford sales manager for Belt's Landing in Fells Point. During her 14 years in real estate sales, she has sold luxury town homes for NV Homes in Baltimore and Harford counties and has sold Canton Cove waterfront condominiums.

Baltimore Specialty Steels Corp., a division of Armco, has named Jo Jahnigen supervisor commercial services and Bill Davison manager technical services. J.L. Meyers has been appointed manager rod and bar processing, A.R. Swirnow, manager product testing and specifications; T.W. Eisenhuth, manager joint venture projects, and R.P. Oreschnick, metallurgist-bar products. R.D. Beatty has been named manager bar rolling and precision forging; R.J. Williams, manager forging and conditioning; T.C. Toner, manager melting and casting, and E.K. Priebe, manager metallurgy and quality control. In the Finance Department, M.C. Slaughter has been named supervisor property accounting and D.L. Newman, material control auditor. T.K. Crew has been promoted to accounts receivable clerk.


Louis Randy Parker has been promoted to senior accountant at Abrams, Foster, Nole & Williams, Certified Public Accountants. He has been with the firm since 1988. At Genstar Stone Products Co., Kevin Sniffen has been appointed corporate general counsel and Neil Tress has been named controller. Sniffen is responsible for general legal matters, tax policies and credit operations. Tress is responsible for assisting in the company's financial analysis and reporting.


Winifred C. Borden has joined the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service Inc. as the executive director. The non-profit organization recruits lawyers to provide free legal services to people with low incomes. Previously Borden was president of W.C. Borden & Associates. The firm, which provided management consulting services to small and mid-size law firms, was closed when Borden took the position with MVLS.
