A strained shoulder and tendinitis forced Texas' Nolan Ryan onto the disabled list yesterday. Ryan, who also has been bothered by cracked skin and back spasms, rebutted the notion he's breaking down at age 44.

"I've been expected to do that for the last six or eight years," said Ryan. "It hasn't happened."
