Rangers put Ryan on 15-day DL

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Nolan Ryan was put on the 15-day disabled list yesterday by the Texas Rangers because of continuing problems with his right shoulder.

The 44-year-old pitcher was examined Monday by Dr. Lewis Yocum, a longtime friend and orthopedic specialist for the California Angels. Yocum said he does not consider the problem be serious.

* YANKEES: George Steinbrenner, the team's principal owner, might be planning to engineer the dismissal of Robert Nederlander as the club's managing partner, The New York Times reports in today's editions.

* EXPANSION: The American and National leagues deadlocked on the division of $190 million in expansion money and presented the dispute to commissioner Fay Vincent for a resolution.

* WHITE SOX: General manager Ron Schueler says Bo Jackson is recovering well enough from a hip injury that "he should be able to play in September. I'd like to get something out of him this year."

* ALL-STAR GAME: Hall of Famers Hank Aaron and Rod Carew will serve as honorary captains July 9 at SkyDome in Toronto.
