Baby falls from window

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

A 2-year-old boy fell out a second-floor window of his East Baltimore home last night and was listed in critical condition today at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Police said Jerome Porter, of the 1200 block of N. Caroline St., was being watched by his 10-year-old sister shortly before 11 p.m. and was reportedly alone in a room when he climbed onto a couch next to a window.

The baby, police said, was crawling on the couch when he fell out the open window and landed on the pavement.

Police said the baby was rushed by ambulance to the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit, where he was listed today in critical condition. He suffered a head injury, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The child's mother, Arlene Porter, was shopping at a nearby store with another daughter when her 2-year-old fell.
