Sale of Penguins under discussion

A Pittsburgh Penguins executive says there have been discussions with two Canadian businessmen about the possible sale of the hockey team. Paul Martha, president of the Civic Arena Corp., said he met with businessmen Bill Comrie and Howard Baldwin this week.

The Penguins, who are playing the Minnesota North Stars in the Stanley Cup finals, are owned by Edward J. DeBartolo Sr., a land developer and shopping mall magnate who reportedly has been experiencing cash-flow problems.

Colleges

* Penn State reversed a longtime policy and announced graduation rates for football players, saying 20 of 24 members of the 1985-86 recruiting class have graduated. The figures translate into a graduation rate of 83 percent.

Running

Jury selection began in Houston in the trial of Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis, who is accused of drunken driving during an incident in January.
