COMPETITION RULES
AND REGULATIONS
Rule 1: Authority
The regulations containedin this document constitute the official rules of the World Martial Mania Federation and must govern all Martial Mania events. Use of these rules does not necessarily carry the sanctioning of the World Martial Mania Federation (referred to as WMMF)
Rule 2: The Ring
An ordinary boxing or wrestling ring of not less than 15 feet square within the ropes must be used. The floor must be well-padded and shall extend beyond the ropes not less than 6 inches. Floor padding shall also extend beyond the ring ropes. The ring posts shall be properly padded.
Rule 3: Ring Equipment
The promoters shall provide all thenon-personal equipment such as the corner cushions, ring stools, gong, water buckets and stopwatches.
Rule 4: The Bell
A bell or gong must be positioned at ringside at a height not higher than the ring floor and must carry a clear tone.
Rule 5: Contestants Equipment
Contestants shall provide their own personal equipment, which is subject to the approval of the promoter. This personal equipment shall include: bandages and tape, protective boots, mouthpieces, boxing gloves (cut in such a manner so that the fingers can aid you in throwing and locking techniques), groin guard and water bottles. Shin pads are optional.
Rule 6: Clothing
Fighters' clothing must be approved by the promoter.
Rule 7: Grease/Drugs
Greasing the face only is permitted. No excessive grease is permitted. The use of any drug, alcohol or stimulants by a contestant either before or during contests shall be prohibited.
Rule 8: Weight Divisions
All titles must be established in accordance with the following weight divisions: Flyweight, 50 kg and under; Featherweight, 53 to 57 kg; Lightweight, 57 to 60 kg; Junior welterweight, 60 to 63.5 kg; Welterweight, 63.5 to 67 kg; Light middleweight, 67 to 71 kg; Middleweight, 71 to 74 kg; Super middleweight, 74 to 78 kg; Light heavyweight, 78 to 82 kg; Cruiserweight, 82 to 87 kg; Heavyweight, 87 to 95 kg; Super heavyweight, over 95 kg.
Rule 9: Fouls
Any fighter guilty of foul tactics will be warned by the referee. The use of foul tactics may also result in disqualification of a fighter.
The following tactics are considered fouls:
* Head-butting.
* Biting, spitting or use of abusive language in the ring.
* Pulling hair.
* Using of any knee or elbow technique.
* Kicking to knees.
* Attacking the groin.
* Strangling.
* Applying a lock on any body part other than the leg or arm.
* Injuring an opponent while applying a lock.
* Holding onto the ropes to deliver a kick or punch.
* Attacking the throat, back of the head and neck or the spinal column.
* Kicking the lower leg or inside thigh.
* Using the amateur wrestling suplex. Pro-wrestling suplexes and slams are allowed.
* Turning the neck when throwing.
* Intentionally pushing, shoving, wrestling or throwing an opponent out of the ring.
Rule 10: "Down"
"Down" means any body part touching the floor except the feet. Although locks are permitted when a fighter is down, no punching or kicking will be allowed from either fighter. The referee must immediately start counting a fighter if he is down, except if a lock is applied. The count will bestopped as soon as the fighter is in a standing position and ready to resume fighting. There is a mandatory six count. A count of 10 is considered a knockout.
Rule 11: Length of Rounds and Rest Periods
All rounds will be of two minutes duration and 45 seconds break. Ifa fighter is pinned or submits during the round, the round will be stopped.
All bouts must be between three and six rounds. Normally, amateurs will fight six rounds in championship matches.
Seven rounds will be fought for national or state titles. Nine rounds will be fought for world and continental titles.
Rule 12: Submissions
A fighter can at any stage during a round submit by lifting one arm andshouting "Submit." The referee will then point toward the timekeeperand shout "Round." The round will then be stopped.
Rule 13: Locks
A proper lock applied to the arm or leg of a contestant will indicate the end of a round and will be dealt with as a "Submission."
Rule 14: Pin Down
A fighter is pinned down if he is pinned to the floor for a count of five. A pin down will indicate the end of a round and will be dealt with as a submission.
Rule 15: Total Submission
When a fighter lifts both arms and crosses them while shouting "Referee," it indicates that he is submitting the fight. In such case,his opponent will be declared the winner and the fight stopped.
Rule 16: Judging a Fight
A fight is won by:
* The fighter winning the most points, or
* Knockout or technical knockout, or
* A total submission, or
* Disqualification.
Rule 17: Officials
The following officials must be present at tournaments: one referee, two judges, one timekeeper and the announcer. The referee also will take part in judging a round that went the full distance.
Rule 18: Falling from the Ring
A contestant who has fallen through the ropes may be helped back by his own seconds or trainer. Should the contestant stall for time outside the ring, the referee shall start the count. A count of 10 is considered a disqualification.
Rule 19: Medical Examinations
A proper medical examination must be held on the day of the tournament and the form M.E.I. must be completed by the physician and filed by the organizer of the tournament.

RULE FOR CHAMPIONS,
CHALLENGERS AND CONTESTANTS
Rule 20: Championship Titles
World, national and regional championship titles shall be established on the basis of sex differences and in accordance with the approved weight divisions.
Rule 21: Champions
The WMMFshall only recognize those champions whose titles were won in a WMMF-sanctioned contest, of the required number of rounds, where any one of the following has occurred:
* The recognized champion has been defeated in a title of defense.
* A vacant title has been filled through a divisional elimination among the highest qualified challengers available.
* In the event of a draw in a championship contest, the champion shall retain his or her title.
Rule 22: Challengers
A challenger shall be that contestant who has been identified as:
* A top contender on an approved rating list.
* A national or continental champion.
* A recognized challenger or champion from a lighter weight division.
* A formerly recognized challenger or champion who has returned from recent retirement.
Rule 23: Mandatory Title Defenses
All champions must defend their titles against a qualified No. 1 contender at least one time in every 12-month period. A new champion shall not be required to defend his or her title againstthe No. 1 contender during the first 12-month period in which the title was won.
Rule 24: Disability
Any contestant who has been knocked out shall be suspended from all contests by the WMMF for a period of 30 days, or longer if recommended by a physician.
