The Ferndale-Linthicum Area Community Council will present the 14th annual Ferndale Day this Sunday. The celebration is a day of community participation and includes a parade, music, games, crafts, food anda beauty pageant.
The schedule begins at noon with more than 50 booths and stands set up along Broadview Boulevard in the area of the Ferndale Fire Department. There will be a large selection of foods, such as crab cakes, pit beef and crepes along with the usual pizza andhot dogs. Some of the booths will feature homemade crafts.
New to the scene this year will be a booth featuring herbal products: breads, cookies and cakes, wreaths, plants and other specialties.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and proceed down Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, south to Third Avenue. Approximately 60 units have entered, including three high school marching bands, antique cars, politicians, school children, Scout troops, youth athletic groups and allcontestants in the Little Miss Ferndale Pageant.
As in past years, a Clydesdale horse will be in the parade and hitched on the grass strip along the railroad track afterward. The review platform will be at Second Avenue. The community is pleased to have Keith Mills, a resident of Linthicum and weekend sports commentator from Channel 2, as the grand marshal.
The afternoon continues with an auction beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the platform on Broadview Boulevard at First Avenue.
Many valuable items will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Among them will be tickets to dinner, baseball memorabilia and 1982 World Series tickets, a rare collector's item.
The judging of the Little Miss Ferndale Contest will take place at 3:30 p.m. She will be crowned by the outgoing 1990 Little Miss Ferndale.
A variety of entertainment is planned. It will include a dance routine by Jamin, singing by Paul Whithock of the group Skyline; Severn Singers and kids entertainment.
A special presentation of the Citizen of the Year Award will take place at 5 p.m. along with the senior group quilt raffle.The auction will continue until 6 p.m.
A few more contestants canstill be accepted for the Little Miss Ferndale Pageant. It is open to all girls in the Linthicum-Ferndale area who are between the ages of 10 and 12. Participants will be judged on beauty, personality, creativity and civic activities. For registration information, call Lucy Decker at 987-5474.

Members of the Linthicum Heights Homemakers had theopportunity to hear Mary Ellen Shadat, Anne Arundel county extensionagent, and Libby Hildt, president of the Homemaker's Council, speak at the birthday luncheon last week. Members were informed about new topics for homemakers.

The North Glen Athletic Association is sponsoring a benefit dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. this Saturday at the Roland Terrace in Brooklyn Park. The cost is $12 and includes beer and setups. Entertainment is by the Roadhouse Band.

The Woodlawn Heights Community Association recently held a community-county clean-up and members want to express thanks to everyone who helped.
As new members of the FerndaleLinthicum Area Community Council (FLACC) the Woodlawn Heights Community Association has decided that they will chair the bake table for Ferndale Day, this Sunday. Baked goods are requested from anyone who would like to donate. Please call 761-1452 if you would like to help in this fund-raiser.

The Ferndale Garden Club willbe having its annual end-of-the-year dinner and installation of officers May 28. The dinner will be at Paul's Restaurant on Riva Road in Annapolis. The new officers for the coming year will be president, Irma Holland; vice president, Annette Thomas; secretary, Jean Ball, andtreasurer, Lucille Killian.
Club members are busy preparing for Ferndale Day. They will be selling strawberry crepes and lemonade and are raffling off a kitchen garden consisting of plants and herbs.

The Tommy Thomas Trio has donated its time and music for a Charity Benefit Dance from 8 p.m. until midnight on May 24 at the St. Philip Neri School Hall, Orchard Road in Linthicum. All proceeds go to putting the finishing touches on fire damage done to the parish buildings.
Bring your own party foods. Chips, pretzels, beer and soda will be provided.
