Schaefer names son of Snoops to food agency

A son of Hilda Mae Snoops, Gov. William Donald Schaefer's longtime companion, has been appointed by Governor Schaefer to the Maryland Food Center Authority.

Craig A. Snoops, manager of Lauer's Super Thrift in Pasadena, will serve the remainder of a five-year, unpaid position that will end on June 30, 1995. His appointment to the 12-member authority has been confirmed by the state Senate.

The Maryland Food Center Authority was created in 1967 to establish and operate the Maryland Wholesale Food Center near Jessup. The authority's purpose is to provide a space in which Maryland producers can offer a wide range of food efficiently and inexpensively.

The governor appoints eight members of the authority. The authority's four ex officio members include state Comptroller Louis L. Goldstein and Wayne A. Cawley Jr., the secretary of agriculture.

A resident of Severna Park, Mr. Snoops, 37, is a member of the board of directors of the Mid-Atlantic Food Dealers Association. He is also treasurer of the Pasadena Business Association.
