THEFT ATTEMPT: Southern District -- Thomas Hope, of the 4100 block of Townsend Ave. in Brooklyn, reported he was awakened about 1:30 a.m. yesterday by sounds made by two men who were attempting to steal his lawn mower. Police said the men fled empty-handed when Hope went to investigate.
THEFT: Central District -- Kenneth Furchgott, of the 1100 block of S. Kenwood Ave., reported that while his car was parked in the 200 block of E. Centre St. over the weekend, someone broke the driver's side window and stole property valued at nearly $3,000.
BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 700 block of W. North Ave. reported that someone broke into her home over the weekend through a side window and stole a TV and a VCR valued at nearly $800.
ROBBERY: Central District -- Police reported that two people walking in the 500 block of N. Calvert St. late Saturday were robbed of cash and other property by a man with a handgun. Police said David Martz, an out-of-town resident, and Judith Martz, of the 1000 block of St. Paul St., were walking together around 11:10 p.m. Saturday when they were stopped by an armed man who demanded their money. Police said the gunman robbed David Martz of $50 and more than $100 in traveler's checks and robbed the woman of $9 in cash. Police said the relationship of the two victims was not immediately known.
THEFT: Central District -- Anthony Jacobs, of the 2800 block of Oakley Ave., reported that while his car was parked in the 1800 block of N. Charles St. early yesterday, someone broke into it and stole property valued at more than $600.
THEFT: Central District -- Police reported that property valued at nearly $450 was stolen from a car while it was parked in the 1800 block of N. Charles St. yesterday morning. Police said the theft was reported by the vehicle's owner, Tamika Harris, of the 1500 block of Moreland Ave.
ROBBERY: Central District -- Teresa Hart, of the 600 block of N. Washington St., reported she was in the 300 block of N. Paca St. yesterday afternoon when a man, wearing a blue sweat suit with white stripes, approached her from behind and stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at nearly $100.
THEFT: Central District -- Police reported that photographic equipment valued at more than $200 was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in the 500 block of St. Paul St. over the weekend. Police said the equipment was the property of an out-of-town firm.
THEFT: Central District -- Vincent Conroy, a resident of the Marlboro Square Apartments in the 400 block of W. Lombard St., reported that while his car was parked in the 100 block of N. Greene St. over the weekend, someone broke into it and stole property valued at nearly $300.
THEFT: Central District -- Olaniyie Olugbodi, an out-of-town resident, reported that while his car was parked in the 500 block of E. Pratt St. over the weekend, someone broke into it and removed a carrying bag, luggage and a cashmere coat valued at nearly $900.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Anthony Price, of the 1800 block of E. 32nd St., reported that someone entered his home early yesterday and stole property valued at more than $100. Price told police he suspects a 20-year-old man he knows of taking the property.
ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- John Alfred, of the 5900 block of Radecke Ave., reported that he was attacked at his home early yesterday by a man who struck him over the head with a frying pan. Later, police arrested a suspect and were holding him at the Eastern District lockup pending charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Officials of the D&T; Texaco service station in the 5900 block of Belair Road reported that someone got into the station by breaking a pane of glass in the garage door. Police said a teen-age boy was arrested a short time later and charged as a juvenile with burglary. It was not immediately known if any property was stolen.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4100 block of Northview Road reported that someone broke into his home over the weekend and stole $25 from a purse and a camera, for a total loss of more than $100. Police said entry was gained by opening a kitchen window.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Clark's grocery store in the 3200 block of Chesterfield Ave. reported that a man with a handgun entered the store around 5:30 p.m. yesterday and stole more than $100 from the cash register.
SHOOTING: Northeastern District -- Richard Charles, of the 2700 block of Fenwick Ave., reported he was in his kitchen around 9:15 p.m. yesterday when someone in a passing car fired a shot that struck him in the neck. Police said Charles was admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police were attempting to determine if Charles was the gunman's intended target or if he was shot accidentally.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Anthony Oliver, of the 4900 block of Goodnow Road, reported he was in the 5000 block of Goodnow Road late last night when he was accosted by two men, both with handguns, who escaped with more than $100.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Melissa Parker, of the 1300 block ++ of Edmondson Ave., reported she was walking in an alley behind the 600 block of N. Fulton Ave. around 8 a.m. Saturday when a woman she knows who struck her several times in the stomach and chest with a cane. Police said Parker was not seriously injured and that an 18-year-old woman was being sought.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police said Anthony Rich, of the 3300 block of W. Garrison Ave., was getting out of his car in the 2600 block of Pennsylvania Ave. early yesterday when two men, one with a handgun, pushed him back into the car and robbed him of nearly $150.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Timothy Anderson, of the 3200 block of Massachusetts Ave., reported he was robbed of his watch and $100 while in the 200 block of N. Monroe St. around 5 a.m. yesterday. Anderson told police he was walking along the street when two men got out of a gray Chevrolet Chevette, knocked him to the ground and took his watch and cash.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1600 block of W. North Ave. reported that someone broke into his home and stole a fireplace mantel valued at $500.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Officials of the Upper Room Bible Way of Deliverence Church, in the 1300 block of W. Franklin St., reported that someone broke into the building between May 7 and May 12 and stole a telephone valued at more than $200.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Sidney Parker, of the 800 block of Harlem Ave., told police he was in the 1500 block of Woodyear St. around 3 a.m. yesterday when a man struck him with a piece of wood. Police said Parker, who was not seriously injured, was unable to give a reason for the attack.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Police today were seeking a man who attacked Benjamin McCoy, of the 1600 block of Division St., as he walked in the 2300 block of McCulloh St. yesterday and struck him in the back with a hammer. Police said McCoy was not seriously injured.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Arnold Mears, of the 900 block of Argyle Ave., reported he was in the 500 block of Fremont Ave. around 2 p.m. Saturday when two men robbed him of more than $200.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported that Shannon Barmell, of the 1400 block of N. Fulton Ave., was in the 2500 block of Pennsylvania Ave. early yesterday evening when a man robbed him of property valued at nearly $500. Barmell told police the man robbed him of a leopard-shaped ring, nearly $175 and a radio valued at $75.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Police reported that Clifton Price, of the 700 block of N. Carey St., was walking in the 1300 block of W. Lanvale St. yesterday when a man pointed a handgun at him and pulled the trigger. Police said the weapon apparently misfired and that a suspect in the incident was arrested. He was held overnight at the station lockup pending charges and a bail ** hearing before a District Court commissioner.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Charles Wilson, of the 2200 block of Druid Hill Ave., reported he was attacked at his home yesterday by a man who struck him over the head. Police said Wilson was not seriously injured and that an acquaintance was being sought.
THEFT: Central District -- Police reported a 12-speed bike valued at $600 was stolen from a van owned by John Lears, of the 100 block of W. Montgomery St., while the vehicle was parked in the first block of W. Hamilton St. yesterday between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

ROBBERY: Essex District -- Police today were seeking three men and a woman in the robbery and stabbing of a resident of the South Woods Apartments in the first block of Glenshannon Court last night. The victim, Carlos Nwanko, 25, told police he and his girlfriend, Tammy Hughes, 28, were home around 9:30 p.m. when they answered a knock at the door and found a woman standing in the hallway. Nwanko told police that three men, one with a handgun, suddenly burst into the room and bound him and Hughes with rope. Nwanko said the men ransacked his apartment and stole jewelry, cash and a compact disc player and that during the robbery he was struck with the gun and stabbed several times in the upper body with a knife. After the men and woman escaped, Nwanko and Hughes freed themselves and called the police. Police said Hughes was uninjured but that Nwanko was taken to Franklin Square Hospital, where he was treated for minor stab wounds and released.

THEFT: Glen Burnie -- Jeff R. Meshling, 28, of the first block of dTC Country Club Drive, reported that while his 1989 Nissan truck was parked near his home, someone broke into it and stole property valued at more than $2,000. Police said the thief made off with two stereo speakers, a compact disc player, a tuner, three amplifiers and a cassette player.
THEFT: Annapolis -- Police reported that someone broke into a 1979 Porsche 911 while it was parked in a driveway in the 600 block of Truxton Drive and stole three leather jackets and a pair of aviator-style sunglasses. Police said the property, valued at nearly $1,400, was owned by James Allen Lowry, 53, a resident of that block.
ASSAULT: Laurel -- Police today were seeking the driver of a green Jaguar in connection with an assault on a 15-year-old boy outside a 7-Eleven store on Md. 198. Police said that during an argument in the parking lot, the man allegedly pulled out a 6-inch folding knife and threatened to cut the youth. Following the incident, the man drove off, heading east on Md. 198. Police said the teen-ager, a resident of the 3400 block of Andrews Court in Laurel, was not injured.
AWARD: Annapolis -- Police said a $500 reward is being offered to anyone providing information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or people who broke into a home in the 300 block of Taylor Ave. last week and stole $10,000 worth of customized rifles and handguns. Police said an intruder pried off a screen, then broke a window. Police said anyone having information about the break-in can call the Annapolis Police Department at 267-8888.
