A 22-year-old northeast Baltimore man today was listed in serious but stable condition at the Shock-Trauma Center after being shot during an argument outside the garage next to the United Artists Movies at Harbor Park at E. Lombard St. and Market Place.

Police said the victim, Lenard Jackson, of the 5500 block of Bowleys Lane, was leaving the movie theater shortly after 11:30 p.m. yesterday and was in the lobby when he accidentally bumped into a woman.

Police said the woman informed her male escort of the incident and that both men went outside.

There, near the entrance of the multistory garage near the theater, the men began to argue.

Police said that during the argument, the woman's friend pulled out a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and fired several shots, hitting Jackson in the right buttocks.

Police said it was not immediately known how many bullets hit Jackson, but that the victim also suffered bullet wounds to both legs.

Police said two Central District officers were a short distance away when they heard several gunshots.

Responding to the sound of the gunfire, the officers found Jackson on the pavement being comforted by several movie patrons.

During the confusion, the gunman's female friend escaped.

Following the shooting, the gunman was seen running a short distance before assaulting the driver of a Chevrolet Blazer, Roger Roberts, 40, of the 3300 block of Croydon Road, forcing him out of his vehicle and driving off.

Police said the gunman was driving away and was heading west in the 700 block of E. Lombard St. at Market Place when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.

The gunman then abandoned the vehicle and was last seen running south on Concord St., police said.

Outside the movie garage, police found four spent 9mm shell casings.
