Romilda Villani, 81, mother of Oscar-winning movie...

Romilda Villani, 81, mother of Oscar-winning movie star Sophia Loren, died Thursday in Rome after a long illness. Ms. Villani, considered a Greta Garbo look-alike, was said to have dreamed of a film career for herself. But she put her energy into Miss Loren's future.

Jane Cooper Bland, 91, a teacher of art and art appreciation to young children, died Friday in a Philadelphia hospital. Her work with the Museum of Modern Art in New York included holding classes for children and providing instruction for other teachers. She also held workshops around the country. Her writings included the book "The Art of Young Children."

Ho Dam, 62, a senior member of North Korea's ruling party and a former foreign minister, died Saturday, according to Pyongyang's official news agency. He held several important posts in the ruling Workers' (Communist) Party and government, including vice premier. As foreign minister in 1977, he was the first senior North Korean official to visit the United States.
