Dan Mason scored six goals and had two assists, as top-seeded Towson defeated eighth-seeded Overlea, 14-3, in the Class 1A-2A state boys lacrosse quarterfinals yesterday at Calvert Hall.
Towson (11-0), which meets Mt. Hebron, a 13-6 winner over Hammond, in the state semifinals Tuesday, had little trouble. The Generals jumped to a 7-2 halftime lead and never were threatened.
Mason scored four of the first six Towson goals in the second half, as the Generals pulled away from Overlea (9-4). Teammate Chad Henry added three goals and an assist.
Towson led, 9-2, late in the third quarter and ensured the victory with five goals in a stretch of 3 minutes, 7 seconds.
