Old Mill lineman Brian Evans has accepted a partial scholarship to play football at Towson State University.
Evans was a two-year starter as offensive guard for Patriots coach Pete Regala and an All-Metro selection as a senior. He also competes in the shot put and discuson the Old Mill track team, and is the school's scholar-athlete.
The Severn resident said his primary reason for choosing Towson State, a Division I-AA school, was to remain close to home.
"My biggest adjustment will probably be the amount of time I'll
have to put into working, but I don't expect that to be a major problem," he said.
In rating the top linemen he's coached in his eight years at Old Mill, Regala places the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Evans "up there in the top."
"He should do well in college. He needs to gain a little weight, but he can be a good lineman there," Regala said.
Evans said he eventually would like to increase his weight to 240. "None of the coaches at Towson or Old Mill think that should be a problem," he said.
