BURGLARY/ARREST: Northwestern District -- Police yesterday arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he broke into a dwelling in the 4000 block of Carlisle Ave. and stole a 13-inch TV valued at more than $200. Police said information about a suspect in the break-in led to the man's arrest. He was to appear at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Employees of the Midas Muffler Shops Baltimore in the 2600 block of Reisterstown Road reported that someone broke into the building Wednesday or yesterday after breaking a front window and stole tools valued at nearly $500.
BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into the basement laundry room of an apartment building in the 3900 block of Liberty Heights Ave. and stole an unknown quantity of coins from at least one washing machine.
BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 6300 block of Winner Ave. reported that someone broke into his outdoor storage shed and stole his 26-inch, multispeed bike of undetermined value. Police said the thief got into the shed by cutting a lock from the hasp.
BANK ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said a man who implied he had a handgun robbed the Signet Bank in the first block of South St. yesterday morning of an undisclosed sum. They said the man entered the bank, immediately walked up to a teller and told her he was armed and to give him money. Police said the teller gave the man cash that reportedly did not contain an explosive dye pack. Police said the man left the bank and escaped, running east on Redwood Street.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported a man removed money from a cash register at the Dash In convenience store in the 6100 block of Moravia Park Drive after an employee attempted to stop him by closing the register's drawer on his hand. Police said a man entered the store around 1:30 a.m. yesterday and placed an article valued at less than a dollar on the counter. Police said that when the employee opened the register, the man reached into a drawer and was trying to remove money when the employee shut the drawer on the man's hand. With that, according to police, the thief shoved the cash register against the employee, removed about $20 and fled.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Officials of Garden Village Apartments in the first block of E. Fayette St. reported that someone cut the lock off a door of a company storage trailer that was parked in the 4900 block of Todd Ave. and stole a sander valued at $60.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Ann Cameron, of the 13100 block of Clarksville Road in Howard County, reported she was about to enter her car in the 4000 block of Loch Raven Blvd. shortly before 1 p.m. yesterday when a man knocked her to the pavement and stole her purse. The value of the loss was not immediately known.
THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to a shoplifting at Charley Rudo Sports at the Northwood Shopping Center in the 1500 block of Havenwood Road arrested a woman who attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise valued at more than $200. Police said she was being held at the Women's Detention Center at the Central District pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Angela Holland, of the 2800 block of Kennedy Ave., reported she was in the 1800 block of E. 28th St. around 9 p.m. yesterday when she was accosted by a man with a handgun who robbed her of cash and personal items, all valued at more than $100.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- A 15-year-old resident of the 3700 block of Mary Ave. reported that someone entered the rear yard of his home yesterday evening and stole his bike, which was valued at $100.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of Apollo plumbing and heating in the 800 block of Powers St. reported that while a company truck was parked in the 2900 block of Gibbons Ave. yesterday, someone broke into it and stole two power saws and a power drill, all valued at $700.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Sabrina Cannie, 25, of the 5200 block of Frankford Ave., reported she was walking in the 5300 block of Goodnow Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday when she was stopped by a man who stole her wallet containing more than $100 in cash.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 6800 block of Fairdel Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a rear basement door and stole a typewriter and a gold wristwatch valued at nearly $200.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Members of the staff at Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School in the 3500 block of Hillen Road told police that someone entered an unoccupied classroom and stole computer equipment valued at more than $1,200.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone climbed to the roof of Armistead Elementary School in the 5000 block of E. Eager St. and stole the cooling condenser to the school's air-conditioning system. Police said the equipment was valued at $6,000 and that the theft apparently occurred over the weekend.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Sammy Momoh, 43, of the 4900 block of Gunther Ave., reported he was near his home last night when he was stopped by two men, one with a shotgun, who stole $40 from him.
THEFT: Western District -- Quinn Martin, of the 1900 block of Ruxton Ave., reported that a man he knows as "Cliffy" stole property valued at more than $800 from a house he rents in the 1900 block of W. Saratoga St. Martin told police the man took a TV, TV stand, a video game, three chairs, a bed frame and other property.
ROBBERY TRY: Police arrested two brothers and charged them with the attempted robbery yesterday of two women in the 1500 block of W. Fairmount Ave. Police said Joann and Catherine McFadden, both of the 1700 block of W. Fayette St., were in the 1500 block of W. Fairmount Ave. when they were accosted by two men who demanded their money. Moments later, the brothers were arrested. Police said Dwayne Haskins, 27, and Darnell Haskins, 28, both of the 1300 block of Harlem Ave., were charged with attempted robbery and were being held at the station's lockup in lieu of $50,000 bail each.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Frank Burrell, of the 1800 block of Riggs Ave., reported he was in the 1800 block of Winchester St. yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who stole his wallet containing more than $60.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1800 block of Edmondson Ave. reported that someone broke into her home yesterday by opening a rear window and stole a TV and a microwave oven, all valued at nearly $900.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported that Carolyn Divers, of the 2400 block of Lauretta Ave., was in the 1700 block of N. Monroe St. yesterday afternoon when a man she knows as "William" threatened her with a large-caliber handgun and robbed her of the paging device she was carrying.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Kenneth Langley, of the 3100 block of Westmont Ave., reported he was near his home Wednesday evening when he was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who robbed him of $64 and escaped.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 2400 block of Hollins St. reported that someone broke into his outdoor storage shed Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning and stole a generator valued at $900.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Employees of the Lighthouse Bar in the 2300 block of Frederick Ave. reported that between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. yesterday someone broke into the building and stole a large quantity of liquor, a VCR and at least one case of soft drinks, for a total loss of more than $2,500.

ROBBERY: Towson District -- Police were seeking two men who robbed the Towson East Motel in the 1500 block of E. Joppa Road of an undisclosed sum shortly before 2 a.m. today. Police said two men entered the motel lobby and asked to rent a room. As one was filling out the registration card, the other pulled out a handgun and ordered the night clerk to empty the cash register of its contents. After taking the money, police said, the pair then ran out the front door, taking the room application with them.

DRUG ARRESTS: Greenhaven -- After stopping a pickup truck on Fort Smallwood Road shortly before 11 p.m. yesterday, police charged the two occupants with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Police said that after officers received information from a reliable informant that two men were selling cocaine in a Riviera Beach tavern, they waited outside and followed the men when they drove off in a 1985 Toyota pickup truck. A short time later, the officers stopped the vehicle in Greenhaven, searched it and found several packets of cocaine valued at $300. Police also found nearly $570 in cash. Charged were Jack M. Vance, 23, of the 200 block of Carroll Road, and Herbert Michael Fernandez, 30, of the 8400 block of Greenway Road, both in Pasadena. Police said the pickup was seized and the men were to appear today at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
DRUG ARRESTS: Glen Burnie -- After an investigation indicated that two men were bringing cocaine into the county and using a hotel as their base of operations, police Tuesday arrested John T. Collins, 34, of Chicago, and charged him with possession of cocaine. In the man's car, police found cocaine and more than $200 in cash. Police said the investigation also led them to an unidentified Los Angeles man who was stopped as he left the hotel Tuesday. They said that after the man granted officers permission to search his car, police found more than $8,500 in his luggage. Police said the money is believed to be connected with the smuggling of cocaine and the man will have to appear in court to prove he came by the money legally. If he fails to do so, police said, he faces drug charges.
DRUG ARREST: Annapolis -- Police said a man who illegally passed two cars on Md. 2 was later charged with narcotics violations. Police said Douglas Vanlear McWaters, 24, of the 200 block of Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, was driving on Md. 2 near Mayo Road when he was stopped by an officer who said he observed McWaters passing two cars in a no-passing zone. Police said McWaters was unable to provide the officer with a driver's license or the car's registration and that he gave a false name. After the officer arrested McWaters, a search of the car turned up three bags of marijuana. Police said McWaters was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, giving police a false name and numerous motor vehicle violations.

THEFT: Manchester -- Jansi Leigh Green, of the 4200 block of Hanover Pike, reported that someone entered her home earlier this week and stole an electric drill and a leather tool belt, all valued at nearly $100.
THEFT: Finksburg -- Police reported that someone entered the property of Joanne Dobson, of the 3300 block of Old Gamber Road, Sunday or Monday and stole a 12-speed bike valued at nearly $200.
