The little Warriors who could make the most of hot shooting

THE BALTIMORE SUN

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Lakers found a way to lose a playoff game to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night, or the Warriors found a way to win one. It depends on how you look at it.

Here's all it took for the outsized Warriors to beat the Lakers, 125-124, in Game 2 of the National Basketball Association Western Conference semifinals before a sellout crowd of 17,505 at the Forum:

* A 41-point performance by the Warriors' Chris Mullin, who'd missed Game 1 with a sprained right knee but hit 16 of 21 shots in Game 2.

* Two free throws with 3.1 seconds left by rookie Mario Elie, who was cut by the Lakers in the preseason and spent a good part of this year in the Continental Basketball Association.
