An article in Tuesday's editions of The Evening Sun quote police as saying that Eldora L. Graboski, of the 600 block of Fairmount Road, was fatally injured after her car went through a stop signal and was struck by a tractor-trailer in Linthicum Heights. That report was based on a teletype received by the State Police. However, Anne Arundel County police say they are still investigating the crash and looking for witnesses before determining whether Graboski went through the stop signal.
Anne Arundel County police reported that two people died iseparate automobile accidents yesterday.
About 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Herbert H. Robinson, 78, of Silver Spring, was driving his Oldsmobile Cutlass west on U.S. 50 near Md. 424 when the car suddenly left the roadway and drifted onto the right shoulder, police said.
Police said the car then struck a road sign before crashing into a tree and overturning.
Robinson, the lone occupant of the car, sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the state medical examiner's office was to perform an autopsy today to determine if Robinson died of injuries or had a fatal heart attack.
About 9:56 a.m. yesterday, a 59-year-old Linthicum woman was killed when the car she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer in Linthicum Heights, police said.
Eldora L. Graboski, of the 600 block of Fairmount St., was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said that Graboski, who was eastbound on Andover Road, failed to obey a stop light at the intersection with Camp Meade Road. Her car was struck on the passenger side by a northbound tractor-trailer driven by Chris E. Pemleton of Mechanicsville in St. Mary's County.
The rig jackknifed, twisting Graboski's car around a telephone pole and fatally injuring the driver of the car, police said.
The accident, which is being investigated, caused police to close the intersection for several hours.
State Police at Pikesville said the two deaths brought to 181 the number of people killed on Maryland roadways so far this year, compared with 225 at the same time last year.
