Motorist killed in I-95 collision

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A motorist was killed last night when his car was struck by two tractor-trailers traveling on Interstate 95 near Perryville, state police said.

According to police, Stephen N Bolen, 32, of North East, was driving his Ford Probe north on I-95 last night at 7:55 p.m., when his car came to a stop in the center lane for an unknown reason.

A tractor-trailer traveling behind Mr. Bolen's car in the center lane attempted to merge into the left lane to avoid the stopped car, but struck it anyway when Mr. Bolen's car apparently started again and veered into the left lane of I-95.

The impact of the collision threw Mr. Bolen's car into the right-hand lane of the roadway, where it was immediately struck by a second tractor-trailer.

Mr. Bolen sustained massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the office of the State Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be performed. The two unidentified tractor-trailer drivers were not injured.

Police said an investigation into the accident is continuing, but no charges are expected to be filed against either of the drivers of the tractor-trailers. The accident tied up traffic on northbound I-95 for four hours.
