Carroll County faces a future of growth, rapid development and increasing tourism.

Tourism revenues in 1989 exceeded $50 million, a 12percent increase.

In 1980, Carroll had 96,000 residents; today, the county has 130,291. As more Marylanders find themselves priced out of Baltimore and the neighboring counties, many are moving here. A large segment of these newcomers includes young families with school-age children.
