Grab The Green and Fair Propina win


Grab The Green and Fair Propina won the co-featured $18,500 allowance races for 3-year-old fillies at Pimlico Race Course yesterday.

Grab The Green, ridden by Edgar Pardo, stalked pace-setting Saucy Bird for most of the 1 1/16-mile eighth race, took the lead on the second turn and held off a late bid by favored Long Walk to win by five lengths in 1 minute, 45 seconds.

Trained by Barclay Tagg, the daughter of Cozzene out of the Ac Ack mare, Reach For It, won for the second time in six career starts.

Fair Propina, ridden by Rick Wilson, was back in the pack as

Who's Thirty and Ray Lady set most of the pace. Trained by Ben Perkins, the daughter of Sportin' Life out of the Coastal mare, Fair Hostess, made her move on the final turn, took the lead at the top of the stretch and pulled away to cover the 1 1/16 miles, over a track rated fast, in 1:44 2/5. Ray Lady was a length back in second.

The victory was the second in 11 starts for Fair Propina.

* Jockey Charles Fenwick III, 17, a student at Gilman School, rode both ends of the Daily Double yesterday.

Now the leading apprentice rider at Pimlico, Fenwick was up on Full Of Vigor in the first race and rode Paul's Pearl to victory in the second race. He has 23 winners in 206 mounts. He also has 23 seconds and 23 thirds.
