The robber left his calling card.

City police say that's how they tracked down a 27-year-old Glen Burnie man now held on $50,000 bail on charges of robbing a bank branch in Baltimore.

It happened like this, police said:

About 6:20 p.m. Friday, the bandit entered the Signet Bank in the 2300 block of E. Northern Parkway.

Seeing that the bank had a counter-to-ceiling security window, the robber approached the manager, requested a $20,000 loan -- and pulled a black revolver from his pocket.

The gunman threatened to kill the manager and himself if she refused to accompany him to the commercial teller's window.

The manager complied, and the gunman collected an undisclosed amount of money from two tellers. He fled, but a piece of paper fell from his pocket, and a bank employee saw it.

It turned out to be a payroll stub for Leroy John Taylor from Broadway Services, a subsidiary of Johns Hopkins Hospital that provides security officers to area hospitals.

Detective Earl Etting found that Taylor, of the 6400 block of Roots Drive in Glen Burnie, had been working as a security officer at Francis Scott Key Medical Center.

Yesterday, police and the FBI arrested Taylor.
