Rossville Center, a two-story red brick and glass structure in Fullerton, is at least six weeks away from being ready for occupancy but already reportedly 40 percent leased.

Developer Mickey Abrams described the 32,000-square foot building at Fitch Avenue and Rossville Boulevard as a mixed-use project for office and retail.

Schmidt Baking Co., which has a bakery nearby on Fitch Avenue, has signed a lease and plans to open a retail outlet there, said Abrams, the owner of Abrams Development Group.

Other would-be tenants include Maria's Restaurant, Hi-Tech Signs and Bay View Medical Homecare Inc., a supplier of home oxygen units, he said.

Rossville Center is a few blocks off Belair Road near the Beltway. It is close to Perry Hall Boulevard, which connects the area to White Marsh.

"It's turning out to be a very good location," said Abrams, noting the building's proximity to the White Marsh housing boom and Perry Hall Boulevard.

Construction began last August and the structure should be ready for occupancy by June, Abrams said.

D. R. Brasher Architects Inc. of Columbia designed the building to give it a light, open look, Abrams said. "They came up with a building that isn't too institutional in style," he said.

Abrams said he believes he'll have no difficulty leasing the remaining space.

"We can offer office and retail space at below market rates because the building is very cost-efficient," he said. "The land was not priced like land on Belair Road, so it cost us a lot less to build than it would have in Perry Hall or White Marsh."
