Services for Michael C. Vataha, a 25-year employee of the American Telephone & Telegraph Co. in Baltimore, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Philip and James Rectory, 2801 N. Charles St.

Mr. Vataha, who was 50, died of heart failure Wednesday at his home on West 29th Street in Remington.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., he moved to Baltimore as a child and graduated from Polytechnic Institute in 1959. He studied radio FTC electronics for a year before joining the Army. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, for nine years and worked in Army intelligence before being honorably discharged in 1969.

After working for Boeing Corp. in Seattle for several years, Mr. Vataha returned to Baltimore to take a position with Western Electric Co., which was later taken over by AT&T.; He worked for the company for 25 years and recently was honored for coordinating the Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems project.

Mr. Vataha is survived by his aunt, Mary Fleming of Miami, and his companion, Frances Munson of Remington.
