LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Corporate Report worked six furlongs in 1 minute, 14 1/5 seconds at Churchill Downs yesterday morning, then returned favoring his left front foot.

"Evidently, pulling up on the turn he reached up on the bulb of his left front foot," said trainer D. Wayne Lukas. "He bruised the bulb of his foot, and it discolored somewhat."

"We've got a solution that should pull the soreness out in the next 12 to 14 hours. We have a walk day scheduled for [today] and more than likely he will be on the track [tomorrow]. That will be the bottom line. If he is on the track galloping Tuesday, we're fine. If we miss some time, then obviously we're going to look down the line to the Preakness."

If Corporate Report fails to make the Derby, it would break Lukas' 10-year streak of having at least one Derby starter.

"At this point, I feel optimistic," he said. "He didn't break the skin. We aren't looking at cracks, fractures or tendons. We're looking at a bruise, and we can probably overcome that."

* Green Alligator is a probable for Saturday after working seven furlongs in 1:25 at Churchill Downs.

"The work was super," said trainer Murray Johnson. "If everything continues as it has, we'll have a go Saturday. We'd be silly not to."

The colt is owned by Anderson Fowler, grandfather of Johnson's wife, Kim.

* Best Pal will breeze three furlongs this morning, his final work before the Derby.

* Big Al's Express, last-place finisher in Saturday's Derby Trial in his career debut, is scheduled to leave on a van to return to Northern California tonight.

* The Louisville Courier Journal annually conducts a weekly poll for the 10 weeks before the Derby.

The final poll for this year was published yesterday. The top picks of four of the 10 voting turf writers was Strike the Gold. Three picked Best Pal, two picked Fly So Free and one picked Hansel.
