COMMUNITY AWARDS WINNERS ARE HONORED

The following people are winners of 1991 Community Awards and were honored Thursday at Turf Valley Club and Hotel.

The event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Maryland National Bank.

Educators of the Year: Susan Bard, Howard Community College; Misae Chiarella, Elkridge Elementary School; Bonnie Daniel, Wilde Lake High; Sharon Giorgio, St. John's Lane Elementary; Debi Hochkeppel, Cedar Lane; Annette Kuperman, Clarksville Middle; Patricia Mack-Preston, West Friendship Elementary; Joan McCaw, Hammond Elementary; Roger Volrath, Glenelg High; David Weeks, Glenelg Country.

Police Officer of the Year: Detective Lee Charles Lachman.

Volunteer Firefighter of the Year: Firefighter Frank Saunders.

Career Firefighter of the Year: Firefighter Michael G. Butt.

Undercover Confrontation With Armed Drug Dealers: Detective Glenn Hansen, silver medal.

Automobile Fire Rescue: Officer Daniel Christianson, silver medal; Officer Michael Thorn, silver medal; Officer Michael Williams, bronze medal; Officer Morris Carroll, bronze medal; Officer Timothy Black, bronze medal.

Confrontation With Armed Hit Men: Officer Michael Ensko, bronzemedal.

Townhouse Fire Rescue: Firefighter First Class Richard Bowen, honorable mention; Firefighter Stephen M. Hardesty, honorable mention.

Eye Injury Rescue: Lt. Dale Gardner, honorable mention; Firefighter First Class Ronald Redmond, honorable mention; Firefighter Michael Bess, honorable mention; Firefighter George Krug, honorable mention; Firefighter Keith Ridgely, honorable mention; Firefighter Liz Szcybor, honorable mention.
