April 28: Ex-President Jackson -- It was yesterday and the day before rumored in this city that news had been received of the death of this distinguished patriot and statesman, but there is no truth to the report.

April 29: Balloon Ascension -- Mr. Wise, the aeronaut, made his twenty-sixth ascension from Hagerstown on Monday last. He landed in Virginia on the opposite side of the Potomac River from Williamsport.

April 28: Fully 20,000 persons attended the two performances of Forepaugh's great circus yesterday on the York Road near Huntingdon Avenue. Such a scene as they presented going to and from the immense canvas coverings can only be produced

by a circus.

May 1: The B. and O. Railroad will shortly begin the construction of a passenger station at Lansdowne, near the Relay. The railroad also turned out two new passenger locomotives

yesterday at the Mount Clare shops.

April 28: Kathleen Norris, novelist and president of the National Legion of Mothers of America, will share the platform with Senator Gerald P. Nye (Rep., N.D.) at a mass meeting sponsored the America First Committee at the Lyric Theater tomorrow night.

May 1: Roy B. White, president of the Western Union Telegraph Company and former president of the Central Railroad of New Jersey, was elected president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at a special meeting of the board of directors at New York yesterday.
