Sixteen horses were entered for the 95th Maryland Hunt Cup, but only 14 could end up actually starting.
So far, only one horse, Cotuit, has been scratched.
Of the remaining 15, trainer Nancy Knox has two entries and intends to scratch one of these, probably Sensory Perception. "I'm hoping Ballybranogue will be sound enough to run, and I can save Sensory Perception for the Virginia Gold Cup [May 4]," she said.
Still, if all 14 start, it will be the biggest field in nearly 60 years.
One other starter, Kevino, also could be scratched because of soundness problems, "but I'd say it's about 80 percent certain he'll go," trainer Paddy Neilson said yesterday.
