The Block

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

A general plan for downtown growth, to be released in June, will recommend redeveloping The Block, a historic, if notorious, clump of bars, sex showcases and erotic bookstores along East Baltimore Street. Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke says The Block "ought to be further reduced in scope and eventually eliminated in some orderly way."

Neighbors suggest that the businesses could be dispersed individually to various industrial areas around the city, the route other cities have taken to get rid of their sex zones.

We'd like to know what you think.

1. Should The Block be eliminated?

2. Would dispersing businesses on The Block result only in moving the related problems to another area?
